Wilderness First Aid (WFA)
This is a Canadian Red Cross, Nationally recognized Wilderness First Aid course. It is an experientially driven 40 hr (Wilderness First Aid course, WFA) course designed for individuals who lead activities, work, recreate, or otherwise find themselves > 3hrs from organized health care.
This course will enable participants to have an appreciation for the realities of providing First Aid in a wilderness and austere environment. Emphasis will be on leadership and the decision making process, physical assessment and intervening in a way that minimizes morbidity (suffering) and mortality (death).
The courses will take place almost entirely outside rain, snow or shine so come prepared. The WFA runs over 4 days + an evening and includes an optional evening scenario on the 3rd day.
